Topics for Students
Q: How do I get trained?
Go through the Training Workshop, and be sure to sign the Student Leader Covenant (pdf).
Q: How do I find a co-leader?
Your co-leader will initially be a assigned at training. Then you’ll work with incoming leaders and other students as current leaders graduate from the program.
Q: How do I get students to attend?
This will be a combination of invitation and assignment. Current students will be required to attend at least once and then they can opt out if they choose. New students will be required to attend for a longer period.
Q: When and where does my group meet?
Co-leaders can choose their meeting time and location.
Q: How often should my group meet?
Once a week is ideal.
Q: Which topics should we cover in group?
“Starter” groups cover the 10 topics on this page, then cycle through those 10 topics so newcomers have a chance to cover every topic. “Advanced” student groups can cover other FLEXTALK topics in the Leadership and Daily Life categories.
Q: How do students graduate from my starter group?
Students officially graduate when they’ve covered all 10 topics. Then they’re eligible to go through training and become student leaders themselves.
Q: What happens when a student graduates from my starter group?
Q: How do I empower students to become leaders?
Engage them in conversations, ask them to help facilitate, invite them to be co-leaders in your starter group. For those who want to make it official, make sure they sign up for the next training workshop.
Q: Who is my point of contact at Capstone?
We’ll cover that in the training.
Q: How can I get additional training?
Q: How do I earn a mentoring certificate at FLEXTALK?
That’s worth getting for your bright future! Just log 10 meetings and be sure to include your email every time you do it.
