Can you have both a career and a family? It depends on your goals for both.

Talking Points:

  • If you’re a successful couple with fruitful careers, you don’t have to give up on those careers once you start a family. But, you do need to be ready to adjust how you’ve done things in the past.
  • The key is defining your goals both at work and at home. Then, evaluate those goals and decide if some sacrifices are needed. Sometimes, you give up things you love for things you love more.
  • Goals can change as your life changes. You may have to hold off on pursuing certain things in the short term but new opportunities can present themselves in the future.
