Disappointment is that feeling you get when you don't get what you want or when things don't go your way.

Talking Points:

  • 4 steps for handling disappointment:
    • Step #1: Let it sting for a minute. It’s okay to feel disappointed and to figure out why you’re feeling sad.
    • Step #2: Learn from it! Learn what went wrong and avoid doing that the next time!
    • Step #3: Stay positive! Bad days don’t last forever and a good day is coming soon, so smile!
    • Step #4: Forget about it! Don’t get stuck thinking about the bad things that have happened. Let it go, distract yourself and move on!

  4. Think about the water in the glass example. Why is it better to see the positive side- water is in the cup rather than the cup isn’t totally full? As a class, come up with an example of how you can see the positive side of a hard situation.
