Gift-giving has become the most common way for us to show our love. Why is that?

Talking Points:

  • Gift-giving has become a most common way for us to show our love. It’s because our society has become so materialistic. We are constantly told that the only way to show someone love is to shower them with gifts.
  • Commitment, trust, and understanding are the true aspects of love. These are the things that we should build our relationships on. They will help us to have the healthiest relationships and show people we truly love them. They are invitations to devotion.
  • Love is shown by our thoughts, actions, and intentions. If you show people you love them by giving them gifts while neglecting to show loving thoughts, actions, and intentions, they probably won’t believe you love them. You need to show people your love by treating them with respect.
  • This doesn’t mean gift-giving is wrong, but we can’t rely solely on that to show our love. We need to spend time with those we love. We need to tell them how much we really love them.
